Why We Exist
As the $5.5 trillion distressed real estate market transitions to rentals and lease options, it is imperative that some of the estimated $50 billion raised to date is made available for socially responsible operators to get to scale for the acquisition of non-performing loans and distressed/foreclosed properties in the urban core.
With the January 1, 2013 implementation of the Homeowners Bill of Rights, which preserves homeowner's right to sue for violations of California's foreclosure laws, MAAT Community Partners provides the tools needed to reach successful settlement agreements in those situations where it is more feasible for the families to remain in their homes.
The success of MAAT Community Partners is its ability to bring a critical mass of distressed homeowners to the table to customize win/win outcomes that stabilize families, achieve investor's returns and assist financial institutions with the disposition of distressed properties.
Moving into 2014, as the housing market continues to stabilize it's important to restore the balance between investors and homeowners. A true market recovery has homeowners at the center and in the wake of the current crisis "rebound buyers" will take on more prominence. Maat Community Partners recognizes this trend and is in the forefront of developing strategies to help further stabilize the market.
Successes
**Since August 2012 MAAT has successfully helped over 60 families transition into secure lease and/or lease option arrangements and stabilized over $15 million in distressed properties.
With over 20 years in corporate finance and 8 years doing HUD approved counseling, we have worked directly with families and seen the devastating effects of this foreclosure crisis. We have built and established trust in the San Francisco Bay Area allowing us to assist over 500 families with affordable home purchases while also addressing over 200 families with mortgage default & foreclosure issues.
Our relationships with community based organizations, social enterprises and financial institutions allow us to be innovative and creative in arriving at equitable solutions for all parties involved-ultimately keeping families in their homes or assisting them in finding a new one.
The cornerstones of MAAT Community Partners are Outreach, Advocacy, Mediation and Crisis Management.
